ALBERT LAMMERS
SPENCERVILLE — Albert B. "Abe" Lammers, 91, died at 2:48 p.m. Feb. 14, 2015, at Roselawn Manor, Spencerville, with his family at his side.
He was born July 13, 1923, in Delphos to Lawrence Joseph and Christine Elwer Lammers, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 13, 1947, he married Marie A. Schroeder, who died March 23, 2013.
Mr. Lammers was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Spencerville, and the Knights of Columbus in St. Marys. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 and American Legion Post 191, both in Spencerville. He was an avid reader and a world traveler. In 1982, he retired as a millwright at Dana Corp. in Lima and enjoyed farming.
Survivors include seven children, Janet Lammers, of St. Marys, Karen (Chuck) Meyer, of Youngstown, Arizona, and Robert (Deborah) Lammers, Terry (Robin) Lammers, Michael "Mick" (Cathy) Lammers, Joseph (Becky) Lammers, and Marilyn Lammers, all of Spencerville; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Pohlman, of Delphos, Vera (Herman) Hemker, of Coldwater, Michigan, and Katherine Wolf, of Bronson, Michigan; and a brother-in-law, Gene Warnecke, of Delphos.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcille Warnecke and LuAnn (Dave) Altman; and two brothers-in-law, Ray Pohlman and Glenn Wolf.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Church. The Rev. Stephen J. Blum will officiate. Burial will be in Spencerville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, where military rites will be conducted by the Spencerville Veterans.
