SPENCERVILLE — Ardean S. Imler, 96, of rural Spencerville died 5:00 a.m., Mon. Jan. 15, 2018, at her home with her family at her side. She was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Valley, WS, the daughter of Dewey & Margaret (Rose) Cummings, who preceded her in death. On March 14, 1949, she married E. Cole Imler, and he died Jan. 26, 2011.
Survivors include, a daughter, Colleen "Tiz" (Nathan) Shaffer, Spencerville, 2 grandchildren, Misti (Tim) Wilson, & Ben (Whitney) Shaffer, 6 great grandchildren, Cole Wilson, Calvin Wilson, Caden Wilson, Addison Shaffer, Elliana Shaffer, & Sophia Shaffer, 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Imler & Peggy Rapp.
In addition to her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Cummings.
Ardean worked as a florist, and along with her daughter, owned and operated Flowers by Colleen in Cridersville and Spencerville. She served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II in the European Theatre. Her memberships included the Spencerville United Church of Christ, and the Bowersock Bros V.F.W., Post #6772, Auxiliary, also of Spencerville. Ardean enjoyed needlework, the outdoors, gardening, and in her younger years, square dancing.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thurs. Jan. 18, 2018, at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home Spencerville, with Pastors Scott Johnson and Andrew Atkins officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Spencerville Veterans following the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will then take place in the Spencerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Wed. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Lake Hospice or the Lawton Memorial Library, Le Farge, WS.
