ARMIN JEWETT

SPENCERVILLE — Armin "Rife" Jewett, 77, of Spencerville, died at 11:18 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.

He was born July 11,1938 in Oberlin, Ohio, the son of Graydon Clair and Helen Elizabeth Rife Jewett, who are deceased. On July 20, 1992 he married Carla S. Merricle, who survives, along with 12 children; Lori Jewett of Spencerville, Julia "Lynn" Jewett of Cashmere, WA.; Lisa (Rodney) Hardeman of Spencerville; Amy West of Sidney; Barb (Rick) Howerton, Mike Young , Jeff Young , all of Jackson Center; David (Tonya) Bradford of Lima; Patty (Marshall) Clark, of Jackson Center; Gordon Smart of Spencerville; Lisa (Mitch) Bracy of Lima; Judy (Lance) Ringwald of Spencerville . 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and 2 sisters; Ardith (Sid) Jordan of Nova,OH. and Julie (Chuck) Bailey of Sedalia, CO. and a daughter-in-law; Kim Smart Woodruff of Spencerville. He was preceded in death by a son; Wesley Smart.

Rife attended the Wellington Schools and worked for 46 years as a long haul semi truck driver for the Schwerman and Matlack Companies, retiring in 1997. He also owned the Jewett Supply Company from 1986 thru 2015. His love was to be with his large family.

Funeral services will be 8 PM Monday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Rev. Bev Hurlbert officiating.

Friends may call from 2 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
