Spencerville;  Avonnah Jean Cox, 93,   (Please make sure Jean is in the heading) of rural Spencerville, passed away at 1:41 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2022 in the Grand Lake Hospice Unit of Joint Twp. District Memorial Hospital in St. Mary's.

Jean was born August 16, 1928 in Cambridge, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frederick Frame and Mabel Louella Smith Gunn. On September 11, 1948 she married Harold Leroy "Fritz" Cox, who preceded her in death November 1, 1994.

Surviving are her children;  Ronnie (Shari) Cox of Whitesburg, GA.,  Larry (Nancy (d)) Cox of Lima,  Carl (Sue) Cox of Wapakoneta,  Jerry (Lois) Cox and Craig (Annette) Cox, both of Spencerville,  and Cathy (Alan) Huffer of Lima;  15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren and her two sisters,  Shirley (Loran) Stutz and Carol (Dale) Lodge,  both of Winterset, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her twin son Gary, her grandson David Cox and brother Alvin (Maxine) Gunn.

A homemaker, Jean was a graduate of Madison High School in Guernsey County and had attended Columbus Business College. She was a member of the Hartford Independent Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in the Hartford Church with Pastor Daniel Hub officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford Cemetery, next to the church, on St. Rt. 81, Northeast of Spencerville.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until service time Wednesday, the date of services.

Memorials may be made to the Hartford Church building fund or to its Missions, or to the Grand Lake Hospice.
