LIMA — Barbara Ann Gallaspie Sanders Ward, 80, of Lima and formerly of Spencerville, passed away at 3:03 PM Sunday, November 4, 2018 in the Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, with her family at her side.
She was born March 2, 1938 in Lima, a daughter of the late Merle and Ann Horvath Harruff. She had been married to Richard Gallaspie, Vallas Sanders and Carl Ward, who are all deceased.
She is survived by her five children; Clarence "Clem" (Mary) Gallaspie and Richard Gallasie, both of Wapakoneta; Anna (Bob) Steinke of Cridersville; Doug Gallaspie and James (Jodi) Sanders, both of Lima; eight grandchildren; Kristopher (Emily) Gallaspie and Dustin (Lacy) Gallaspie, both of Wapakoneta; Doug Gallaspie of Lima; Mathew (Jamie) Gallaspie of Wapakoneta; Marcus Gallaspie of Missouri; Katlynne Sanders of Spencerville; Trevor Sanders of Vandalia and Justin Sanders of Lima; her daughter-in-law, Jodi Wingate of Wapakoneta and 14 great grandchildren; her sister Jean Ross of S.C. and brother Dennis Harruff of Spencerville.
Preceding her in death are her grandson; Joshua Wingate and brothers Larry Harruff and Dwight Harruff.
Barbara was a member of Only Believe Ministries Christian Fellowship in Botkins and was Past President of the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 Auxiliary in Spencerville. She had worked many years in the kitchen at Roselawn Manor in Spenceville. She enjoyed collecting Peguins and was a gifted friend and care giver to many people.
Funeral services will be 7 PM Thursday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with John Kesler officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Spencerville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society .
