SPENCERVILLE — Benjamin Franklin "Ben" Oehlhof, 83, of Spencerville, passed away peacefully in the Auglaize Acres at 11:15 AM Sunday morning, February 11, 2018, with his three sons at his side. He had resided there the past four plus years.
He was born January 29, 1935 in Lima, a son of the late William and Nondis Cecil Shively Oehlhof. On April 6, 1957 he married Betty Jo Adam, who preceded him in death on December 23, 2010.
Surviving are his sons; Ben C. (Susan) Oehlhof; Brian F. (Cindy) Oehlhof and Bradley W. (Janet) Oehlhof, all of Spencerville; grandchildren; Adam and Abby Oehlhof; Paula (Ben) Franke; Sean, Brandon (Victoria Cervantes) and Austin Oehlhof; and great grandchildren; Connor, Colton and Soryn Oehlhof; Lolan Moran; Mercedes, Isabella and Matthew Owens and Owen and Lydia Franke.
Ben was a 1953 graduate of Spencerville High School and worked at the former Superior Coach/Sheller Globe Corp. from 1961 thru 1981 and then worked 11 years at the former Mid Bus Corp., both in Lima, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ . He had been active with his sons in 4H, Scouting and Midget league baseball and enjoyed their camping trips. His special delight was his grandkids and caring for animals and farming.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastors Scott Johnson and Ted Bible officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 PM Wednesday in the funeral home.
