Mendon; Bernard Edward Louth, 81, of Mendon, formerly of Spencerville, passed away peacefully in his home with his daughter and granddaughter, Killyan, caring for him on Friday, April 26, 2024.
Bernard was born on September 9, 1942 in Delphos to the late Maurice and Myrtle (Rahrig) Louth. He grew up around the Spencerville area graduating from Spencerville High School in 1961. After high school, Bernie joined the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged after six years of service. He was united in marriage to Christina Winget for a short time before an unfortunate car accident took her life. Bernie later met the late Barbara Arbutus Maxwell and they were united in marriage on May 17, 1968. He took employment at National Seal in Van Wert and was a tool maker for 47 years.
Bernard was a huge fan of all kinds of racing and enjoyed watching everything from horses to nascar. He was a State Farmer and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #508 in Rockford. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, at flee markets, and with his animals. Bernie cherished his lifelong friendship with Leon Wieter and loved Leon's grandsons like they were his own. He was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. It was no secret that as a bachelor for the last 30+ years, Bernard was quite the ladies man and always wanting to know what time it was.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Christina Louth; his wife, Barbara Louth; and three siblings, Beverly Louth, Dennis Louth, and Marilynn Ladd.
