Berneta "Bert" Hanjora, 84, died April 25, 2026 at St. Rita's Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 9, 1941 to Ray and Vera "Barnt" Brenneman, who preceded her in death. On June 27, 1959 she married Albert "Al" Hanjora, who preceded her in death.

Bert adored her four children, Debbie (Doug) Bell, Julie (David) Hemmelgarn, Dan (Merri) Hanjora and Mike (Kim) Hanjora.

She was the BEST grandmother to her 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her siblings, Martha (Dan) Hilliard, Larry (Anita) Brenneman, Janice (Pete) Collier, Pam (Gary) Burger, Greg (Anna Maria) Brenneman, Jerry (Lisa) Brenneman and her sister-in-law, Barb Brenneman.

She was preceded in death by her triplet grandchildren, Kyle, Kelsey and Kamron as well as her brother Roger Brenneman.

Bert worked at Roselawn Manor and retired from American Trim.

On July 17, 2025 she married Tom Hirn, and they shared their love for the Lord. Bert started every morning reading the Bible. Her favorite passage was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She enjoyed gardening, riding her golf cart, playing Scrabble, completing Word Search puzzles and feeding the birds. She was a member of Spencerville Nazarene Church where she served on various committees. Her smile lit up the room and she never knew a stranger as she enveloped everyone in love. She will be deeply missed by all.

There will be a visitation from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Her visitation will continue from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at the funeral home with pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will take place following the service at New Salem Cemetery south of Monticello. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Bert and her family.
