BILLY BURDEN

SPENCERVILLE — Billy D. Burden, 89, of Jefferson, Georgia, formerly of Spencerville, went to heaven to be with Jesus, March 5, 2015.

He was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Wapakoneta. On June 15, 1945, he married Janice Marie Werner, who preceded him in death after 66 years of marriage.

Mr. Burden graduated from Blume High Schools, Wapakoneta. He worked for 31 year at the Ford Motor Company as an inspector. He was a member of Hartford Christian Church where he enjoyed teaching Sunday school and served on the church deacon board. He was an avid woodworker with some of his work displayed at the Allen County Museum. He was named as the recipient of the John R. Carnes Achievement Award by the Allen County Historical Society. He also enjoyed writing poetry and plays and spent much of his leisure time reading.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia "Ginny" (Doug) Pentenburg and Miriam (Dale) German; six grandchildren, Tony Guidera, Kristin (Travis) Billman, Brent (Johnnie) Pentenburg, Nicole German, Shanna German, and Derik "Biggie" German; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Guidera and Bailey Billman.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Burden.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartford Christian Church, Spencerville. Pastor Robert King will officiate. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville.
