BOB BOYER
LIMA — Bob G. Boyer, 87, of rural Lima, died at 11:20 a.m. April 1, 2015, at Otterbein Senior Care Center, Cridersville, where he had lived for a short time.
He was born March 23, 1928, in Amanda Township, Allen County, to Robert G. and Mary K. Craig Boyer, who preceded him in death. On July 2, 1949, in Lafayette, he married Phyllis L. Lutz, who survives.
Mr. Boyer was a graduate of Spencerville High School and was a lifelong farmer, having worked his ground and planting cover crops last fall. He retired as a supervisor of the lube plant at the Standard Oil/Sohio Refinery. He was a longtime member of Shawnee Community United Methodist Church as well as the Farmers Club of Lima. He was a 4-H club adviser for many years and a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau. He volunteered with his son Bill at West Ohio Food Bank in Lima for 15 years. He was honored by Tyson as National Volunteer of the Month of August 2008. He loved life and especially his grandkids and family.
Survivors also include two children, William John "Bill" Boyer, of Lima, and Jeannie Kay (John) Livingston, of Arlington; five grandchildren, Kathryn N. (Chris) Mason, of Arlington, Kristen M. Livingston, of Cincinnati, Michael J. Livingston, of Toledo, and Marissa K. Livingston and Jenna R. Livingston, both of Arlington; a great-grandchild, Alexis N. Mason; a brother, Craig (Nancy) Boyer, of Converse, Indiana, and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Boyer, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Boyer and Gerald (Phyllis) Boyer.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shawnee Community United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bryan Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, east of Spencerville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
