Spencerville; Brenda E. Short, 64, of rural Spencerville, OH passed away peacefully at 4:40 AM on Friday, September 30, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

Brenda was born on November 14, 1957 to the late Robert D. and Henrietta F. (Fix) Oakman in Erie, PA and graduate from Spencerville High School in 1976. Though she was raised in Spencerville she never strayed from her Pennsylvania roots. She held strong to her love of fast cars, rock n' roll, and the bad boys.  On November 11, 1978, Brenda married her #1 Bad Boy Robert L. "Bud" Short and together they raised two children. Brenda worked in the human resources department for the Dana Corporation for 30 years and was just shy of retiring.

Brenda was a member of the Spencerville First Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling. She loved spending time with her family, especially the times she had with her grandchildren.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Robert; two children, Heather F. (Greg) Grothous of St. Joseph, MI and Aaron R. Short of New Market, MD; three grandchildren, Kaden I. Grothous, Madelyn E. Grothous and Grayson R. Grothous; brother, Barry (Irene) Oakman of Spencerville and sister-in-law, Judy Beebe of Cary, NC. Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Lanny Oakman.

There will be a visitation from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Her funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 3, 2022 also at the funeral home with burial to follow at Spencerville Cemetery. Pastor Jim Fletcher will be officiating the service.
