Obituary

Carol A. Miller, a beloved mother, sister, and treasured member of the Spencerville community, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. Born on January 22, 1939, in Lima, Ohio, Carol’s life was marked by unwavering kindness, devotion to family, and heartfelt service to those around her.

Carol's journey began in Spencerville where she grew up under the loving care of her parents, Russell B. and Sylvia E. (Roeder) Trippy. She graduated from Spencerville High School in 1957. Throughout her working life, Carol worked with Bill DeVilbiss at his egg plant, at the Mari-stein baby clothes factory, and cleaning at local establishments including the bank, dentist office, and the VFW. She also worked at AJ’s drive-in in Elida, sold Fuller Brush products, and devoted countless hours as a homemaker, nurturing her family and home.

A woman of generosity and commitment, Carol was a pillar in her community, known for volunteering for many different organizations and events. Her leadership shone brightly as a past president of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary, and a proud member of Friends Church in Spencerville.

Carol’s vibrant interests added color to her life. She was an avid supporter of Bearcat Athletics and an enthusiastic Ohio State Buckeyes fan, finding joy in sports alongside her passion for bowling, gambling, gardening, and tending to her lawn. Her fondness for the Cincinnati Reds revealed a spirited dedication to her favorite baseball team, a true testament to her lively and engaging personality.

She cherished her family deeply. Carol is survived by her son Russell “Rusty” Laman and his wife Shelly, her beloved granddaughters Lacey and Jaclyn Laman, and her dear sister Sandy DeCamp. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Geral Laman; second husband, LaVern "Unc" Miller; daughter, Sue Ann Laman; and her brother-in-law Jim DeCamp.

Carol’s spirit was one of boundless love and warmth. She touched the lives of many with her gentle kindness and tireless volunteerism. Those who knew her remember a woman whose strength and loving heart made a difference in ways both big and small.

There will be a visitation from 1:00-4:00 p.m. with a VFW Auxilary service starting at 3:30 p.m. followed by her funeral at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Spencerville Cemetery. Thomas E.
