SPENCERVILLE — Charles L. "Chuck" Daley, 81, of Spencerville, passed away unexpectedly at 10:41 PM Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in the Kindred Hospital in Lima with his family at his side.
He was born January 9, 1936 in Lima, a son of Alphonse J. "Fuzz" and Margaret J. Kohl Daley, who are deceased. His step father Robert Eckford and his step-mother Lois Daley are also deceased.
On January 26, 1957 he married Shirley D. Lambert, who survives.
Also surviving are his four children; Steven A. (Melissa) Daley of Spencerville; Shonda A. (Steven) Whittaker of Springfield, VA.; Sabrina A. (Phil) Baker of Johnstown, Ohio and Stephanie A. Carnes of Wapakoneta; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; his brother; John Robert Daley of Lima and his four half siblings; Randy J. Daley of Venedocia; Kim (Chris) Colasanti of Lima; Lori (John) Gerdemann of Delphos and Melissa "Missy" Fast of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Herman Carnes and granddaughter Jacqueline Carnes.
Chuck was a 1955 graduate of Lima Central High School and went on to serve four years in the U.S. Marines. He worked as an equipment repairman for the Pitney-Bowes Company for 33 years. After his retirement from Pitney-Bowes, he worked 10 years maintaining homes for disabled folks through Marimor Industries and another 10 years as a general handyman.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Spencerville and served on the Spencerville Village Council for several years, where he was active with planning and zoning. In addition to his family and their travel and camping times, he enjoyed Radio Controlled airplanes and building and piloting Ultra-Lite airplanes.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday October 9, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Spencerville, Rev. Josh Andrews officiating. Military rites will follow the service at the church with the U.S.Marine Honor Guard and the Spencerville Veterans conducting the rites. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 6 PM Sunday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and after noon Monday at the church.
