Cheryl Ann May, 60, of Ft. Wayne, formerly of Spencerville, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 in her home.

Cheryl was born on July 4, 1965 in Bellefontaine, to the late Ronald Eugene and Myrtle (Reed) Travis. She was a graduate of Spencerville High School in 1983 before attending Rhodes State College. At Rhodes, she obtained her associate degree in nursing in 1986. With her degree, she worked as a nurse in long term care for 30+ years. On March 30, 1991, she was united in marriage to Ronald James May. Together they had two children, Brandon and Bryce.

Cheryl loved her time as a nurse, especially her residents. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, and the peace and quiet involved with those activites.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Ron; two children, Brandon May of Fortville, IN and Bryce May of Ft. Wayne, IN; three grandchildren, Charlotte May, Asher May, and Edwin May; five siblings, Deborah (Jake) McDermitt of Spencerville, Veronica Mullins of Mt. Washington, KY, Alice (Tim) Bauman of Ft. Wayne, IN, Larry Travis of Ft. Collins, CO, and Ronald (Amy) Travis of Ft. Wayne, IN; one brother-in-law, Sam DeVilbiss. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Rhonda DeVilbiss.

There will be a visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Her visitation will continue from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the funeral home with pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will take place following the service at New Salem Cemetery south of Monticello. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Cheryl and her family.
