Cherylee M
Sawmiller
Mar 12, 1947 — Oct 4, 2026
Spencerville, OH
Cherylee M. Sawmiller, 79, of Spencerville, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Lima Memorial Health System.
Cherylee was born on March 12, 1947, in St. Marys, Ohio, to the late Ernest Franklin Wiswasser and Alvina Elizabeth (Meyer) Wiswasser Maier. She graduated from Spencerville High School before uniting in marriage to Jerry Wayne Sawmiller on June 18, 1967. Together, they raised four daughters. Jerry preceded her in death on August 9, 2016. Cherylee was employed at Huffy in Celina for many years before retiring from Joint Township Home Healthcare.
Cherylee found joy in the simple things in life—spending time surrounded by beautiful flowers, tending to her garden, and soaking up the warmth of the sunshine. She enjoyed mowing, fishing, shopping, and making memories with the people she loved most. She cherished every opportunity to gather with her family, share laughter, and create memories that will be treasured forever. Her love for her family, her gentle spirit, and her appreciation for life’s little blessings will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Cherylee is survived by her four daughters: Christine Sawmiller of Columbus, Laurie (Brian) Hedge of Celina, Jennifer Huber of Spencerville, and Jamie (Steve) Gambill of Spencerville; seven grandchildren: Joshua (Megan) Hedge of St. Marys, Zachary (Connie Ly) Hedge of Mendon, Chelsie (Synay Ly) Hedge of Celina, Justin (Shay Staugler) Hedge of Celina, Austin Gambill of Spencerville, Wyatt Gambill of Spencerville, and Peighton Gambill of Spencerville; twelve great-grandchildren: Addison Auer, Zie Z Hedge, Iris Hedge, Lieah Hedge, Kaysin Hedge, Kannon Hedge, Azlynn Ly, Amarri Ly, Azaiah Ly, Paisley Hedge, Maverick Hedge, and Bexley Hedge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; her son-in-law, Kevin Huber; and her sister, Janet Wolford.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, followed by her memorial service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Tony Dirr. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at New Salem Cemetery at a later date.
