CHLOTEEN SMITH
ST. MARYS — Chloteen Smith, 75, of rural St. Marys, died at 9:15 AM Sunday, March 6, 2016 in the Lima Memorial Health System following a short illness.
She was born in Knott County, KY., May 14, 1940, a daughter of Ulous and Pearlie Combs Hurt, who are deceased. On August 31, 1962 she married Alonzo Smith who died November 12, 1999.
Surviving are 4 children: Betty (Robert) Carpenter of Mendon; Calvin (Cathy) Smith of Lima; Alonzo Smith of St. Marys and Dean (Deborah) Smith of Elgin; 12 grandchildren; 23 great and 4 great great grandchildren and 2 sisters;;Alice (Paul) Morris and Paralle Feltner, both of Lotts Creek, Ky.
Preceding her in death are her son; Alvin Dale Smith and 3 siblings; Elender Hurt, Grace Feltner and Raymond Hurt.
Mrs. Smith worked many years at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St. Marys, retiring in 2002. She was a member of United Steel Workers Union Local 200 in St. Marys. She loved spending time at Grand Lake St. Marys.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Randy Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
The family will receive friends from 1 PM until service time on Thursday.
