Clair Crider,79, of rural Venedocia passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 12:40 AM Sunday, September 18, 2022 in his home.
Clair was born on March 27, 1943 at St. Rita's Hospital in Lima, the son of the late Clarence and Rosalie Hennon Crider. Clair had attended the Spencerville Schools and after graduation enlisted in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge in 1964. He had formerly worked as a machinist for Excello/Textron of Lima retiring in 1995 and for Jim's Harley Davidson Mendon retiring in 2005. On November 21, 1981, Clair married the love of his life, Mary Franks-Esmonde, at Trinity United Methodist Church near Ohio City.
Clair was a proud member of the former Olive Chapel Methodist Church, VFW, American Legion and was a 32 nd Degree Mason. He loved hunting, working in his shop, and motorcycling. He never missed his motorcycle trip to the bike rally in Sturgis, SD.
Clair is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Jason (Jen Holmes) Crider of Lima and Shane (Kari) Crider of Convoy; step-daughters, Vicki (Mike) Gaskill of Tennessee and Kim (Blaine) Michael of Harrod; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and his faithful German Shepherd companion Sadie. His son Todd Crider and brother Mark Crider preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville on Thursday, September 22, 2022 with a graveside service to follow at Wright Cemetery near Venedocia.
