Clayton Lewis Seibert, 92, of Spencerville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
Clayton was born on February 11, 1932, in Spencerville to the late John Adam and Doris Irene (Mack) Seibert. He grew up near Spencerville graduating from Spencerville High School in 1950. On July 21, 1951, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marilyn Ruth Finfrock and together they raised five children. His lifelong career was farming, but he had also retired from National Seal in Van Wert after working there for 40 years.
Clayton absolutely loved farming, he always said it was his first love after Marilyn! Being snow birds for a number of years, Clayton enjoyed spending winters with his wife in Florida. He absolutely enjoyed mowing the property and taking his four wheeler around the farm. Even if he needed help on the mower, he never missed an opportunity to mow.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marilyn Seibert of Spencerville; children, Randy (Sally) Seibert of Monroe, MI, Jerry (Peggy) Seibert of Monroe, MI, and Denny Seibert of Ohio City; son-in-law, Jim Steinke of Uniopolis; sister-in-law, Ruby Seibert of Van Wert; sixteen grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Megan, Andrea, Joel, Adam, Zach, Jeremy, Daniel, Jesse, Emily, Scott, Trent, Keeley, Nick, and Sydney; thirty-five great grandchildren, Nick, Nathan, Jacob, Bee, Jillian, Gretchen, Benny, Melody, Leander, Lucas, Liam, Lexie, Faith, Echo, Kiki, Mckenna, Ellie, Talia, Issac, Lincoln, Rowan, Thomas, Kaine, Charlie, Brexton, Calvin, Jodie, Donovan, Jayden, Gary, Chandler, TJ, Lyric, Lorelai, and Carter; and five great great grandchildren, Cambrie, Declan, Dawson, Miles, and Scarlett. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Robert Seibert, Lester "Pinky" Seibert and Lloyd Seibert; and two daughters, Dianna (Jack) Schrolucke and Jodie Steinke.
There will be a visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with his funeral starting at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Burial will take place following the funeral at New Salem Cemetery near Monticello with Pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating the services. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Clayton and his family.
