PENCERVILLE — Connie Ann Simindinger, 69, passed away at 2:43 PM on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Mercy Health-St. Rita's. Connie was born on March 21, 1952, in Van Wert, Ohio to Robert H. and Doris M. (Fissel) Miller. They both preceded her in death. On August 19, 1972, she was married to Carl W. Simindinger, who survives in Spencerville, Ohio.
Connie is survived by three daughters, D'Etta "Dee" Elaine Haman of Lima, Emily Sue (Kristopher) Gallaspie of Wapakoneta, and Gretchen Simindinger (Peter) Carothers of Huntsville, AL.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hayden, Paige, and Lane Haman, William and Nora Gallaspie, and Madge and Miller Carothers.
Connie is also survived by her sister, Diane (Tommy) Stout of Spencerville, and sister-in-law, Janice Miller of Spencerville. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margie Clement of Venedocia, brother-in-law Robert (Kim) Simindinger of Spencerville, sister-in-law Donna (DJ) Whitling of Spencerville, and brother-in-law John (Kathy) Simindinger of Lima.
Connie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from near and far.
She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Miller, mother and father-in-law Ivan "Sam" and Ruth (Freewalt) Simindinger, step-mother-in-law Frances Simindinger, and brothers-in-law Max Simindinger and Vince Clement.
Connie was a 1970 graduate of Spencerville High School where she was a very proud member of the high school band led by Harry Folk. She was also a graduate of Fredrick's Beauty School. Upon graduation, she was a secretary for the Holmes Realty Company in Lima until she chose to stay home and be a full-time mom to Dee, Emily, and Gretchen and help Carl with farm operations. Later she served as church secretary at the Spencerville United Church of Christ where she had been a member since childhood. Connie was also an administrative assistant at Trim Trends and Spencerville Family Physicians.
The Spencerville community was always a focus in Connie's life. She cherished memories of her high school band days as a percussionist and continued playing into adulthood in the Spencerville Community Band.
She was also a member of the Spencerville Young Farm Wives and Spencerville High School Alumni Committee. Both organizations provided Connie with many memories with lifelong friends in the community.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 1 at the Spencerville United Church of Christ, Spencerville with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 31 at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and after 10:00 AM Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Spencerville EMS, Spencerville HS Band, or the Spencerville United Church of Christ.
