Spencerville; Constance E. B. "Connie" Harter Riepenhoff, 82, formerly of Spencerville and Delphos, passed away peacefully at 8:10 PM Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the Primrose Retirement Community of Lima, with her family at her side.
She was born May 6, 1935 in Spencerville, a daughter of Edward M. and Esther Bindel Fritz. Her father and mother, Esther Paul are deceased. In 1953 she married Lemoyne D. Harter, who died in 1968. Then in 1974 she married Melvin "Mel" Riepenhoff, who survives, along with 5 children; Pamela (Gary) Johanns; Terri (Richard) Jones; Cynthia O'Dell ; Sandra (Michael) Schimpf and Lemoyne Harter; 10 grandchildren; Andrew Johanns; Emily Dougherty; Christine Shaffer; Brian Jones; Marie O'Dell; Alicia Parker; Nicole Conrad; Michael Schimpf; Daniel Schimpf; and Marlo Harter; 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and a brother; Edward Fritz.
She was preceded in death by her infant son; Melvin D. Harter; a granddaughter; Michele Elliott and her sister; Barbara Horn.
Connie was a Loving, Caring Mother, wife and grandmother. As most know, she was strong willed and would let you know if you crossed the line. She always made sure everyone was taken care of before herself.
She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima and was formerly a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Spencerville. She was a 1953 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the auditors office at the Lima Allen County Court House for 30 years and had been a Girl Scout leader in Spencerville.
Connie will be greatly missed , but always remembered. She is famous for her "Snow Village" adored by everyone, especially by her grandchildren. She enjoyed her artwork, gardening, her flowers and making wreaths.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Monday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home with Father David Ross officiating. Following the service, the Commital Service will be in the funeral home with burial to follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 7 PM Sunday in the funeral home, where a Rosary Service will be at 4 PM Sunday. Visitation on Monday will one hour prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Assn.
