DARCY BARTHEL
CANTON — Darcy Lynn (Flores) Barthel, 65, of Canton, Ohio, and formerly of the Lima area, died July 4, 2015, at her home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Sidney, Ohio, a daughter of Donald Jackson and Leonteen Jackson Clayton, who are deceased. On April 6, 2010, she married her 16-year love and companion, Patrick L. Barthel, who survives in Canton, along with two stepchildren: Shannon Harper of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania; and Shawn Barthel, of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters: Julie (Gary) Fought, of Lima, Stephania (Tom) Keller, of Bristol, Virginia, and Aimee Clayton, of Lima, and her stepfather, Howard Clayton, of Lima. Darcy was especially fond of her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Hoegemeyer, Joshua Fought, Laura Morris, Heidi Snyder and Nathan Keller.
Darcy was a 1968 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and worked for the Lima Board of Realtors and West Ohio Gas Company in Lima until 1998, when she moved to Canton, Ohio, to work for Dominion East Ohio Gas, retiring in 2010.
She was a fun-loving person with a heart of gold. She especially loved her cats, Scooter and Gray. Darcy loved country line dancing, golf, softball and bowling.
In keeping with Darcy's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A public graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pearl Cemetery, north of Sidney, Ohio, on county Road 25A.
Memorial contributions may be made in Darcy's name to One Of A Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
