DAVID COX
SPENCERVILLE — David Allen Cox, 46, of Granger, Indiana, and formerly of rural Spencerville, died Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2017, near Berrien Springs, Michigan, when his motorcycle collided with an automobile that turned in front of he and his wife. His wife, Christine Marie Michinski Cox, also died in the accident.
He was born in Bluffton, Ohio, on June 13, 1970, the son of Carl Eugene and Sue Ellen Core Cox, who survive in rural Wapakoneta. David and Christine were married June 14, 2008.
Also surviving are his children: Morgan Sue Cox and Jack Harold Cox, both of Wapakoneta and his step-children, Taylor, Morgan, Jordan and Camryn Pontzious and his step-grandson, Jayden Pontzious, all of Granger, Indiana; his sister, Jenny Lyn (Ken) Cook and her children; Jacob, Joshua, and Grace Cook, all of Wapakoneta; his maternal grandparents: Jack and Emaline Core, of Kossuth, and paternal grandmother; Avonnah Jean Cox, of Spencerville and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold "Fritz" Cox.
David was a 1988 graduate of Spencerville High School and earned his Journeyman Electrical License through the IBEW Local 32 in Lima.
He was employed as director of Midwest Electrical Operations for the J.J. White Contracting Company of Philadelphia.
He loved spending time with his children, grandson and family. He enjoyed motorcycles and their travels and their recent flights to Puerto Rico and Mexico.
He also was a private pilot.
Funeral services for David will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with Rev. Ben Brigham officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Amanda Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made for his children to Carl Cox in care of the funeral home.
