ELIDA — David L. Wyant, 71, of rural Elida, passed away peacefully at 11:30 AM Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville with his family at his side.
He was born May 11, 1946 in Ottuma, Iowa, a son of Leonard and Iris Kirby McNamara and was later adopted by Cecil and Ruth Hope Wyant, who are deceased.
Surviving are his four children; Tonya S. Shelley of Findlay; Benjamin D. (Jennifer) Wyant of Columbus; Christine H. (Micheal) Mertz of Spencerville and Bryan J. (Alicia) Wyant of Cincinnati; his grandchildren; Brittany (Justin) Hoppock; Thomas Phillips; Jordan Shelley; Jocelyn, Cayden, Kiersten and Raelyn Wyant; Drake, Alyssa and Dylan Mertz; Alivia, Naomi and Braxton Wyant and one on the way; his former wife; Candace J. Wyant; his four siblings;
Paul (Susan) Wyant of Buford, S.C.; Jamie (Jan) Wyant of Elida; Nancy Wheeler of St. Joe, MO.; and Elizabeth McNamara of Iowa and his best friend from church and work; Jeff Maxwell of Lima.
David was a 1965 graduate of Kenton High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy.
He was the head Grill cook for 36 years at the former Huddle Restaurant in Lima until its closure and at the same time worked at the Midwest Guardian Company in Wapakoneta for 20 years. Later he worked for Duffys Cleaners for 6 years in Shawnee.
His fun times in addition to his family was playing golf with Lima Baptist Church League, mainly at Tamarac and Hidden Creek courses and bowling at Westgate Lanes.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Rev. Paul Scannell officiating. Burial will follow in the Allentown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM until 2 PM Friday at the funeral home.
