Obituary

Diana Kay Nungester, 86, of Spencerville, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Pike Run Senior Villa in Delphos.

Diana was born on March 8, 1939 in Salem Township to the late James S. and Mary M. (Martin) Carmean. She attended and graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School in 1956. On March 3, 1956, she was united in marriage to the late William "Bill" Horn. On June 9, 1979, Diana married Arthur Eugene Nungester Jr. who passed away on November 24, 2022. Early in life she worked at Ohio Decorative Products, and Mari-stan Manufactoring in Spencerville and was a travel agent for Advance Travel out of Lima before starting her career with Spencerville EMS. She was employed as an EMT-B until 1992 and then engaged in dispatching for the EMS until a couple years ago.

Diana was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was acquainted with different church volunteer opportunities. She was an avid bowler; engaging in the EMS and church bowling leagues. Most of all she loved her family, and being active with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Diana is survived by her three daughters, Julie Diane Sloan of Delphos, Melanie Kay (Bruce) Lee of Vanlue, and Lisa A. (Nicholas) Sloan of Delphos; seven grandchildren, Greg Sloan of Delphos, Andrea (Jon) Marshall of Delphos, Brandy (Sam) Sears of Van Wert, Jennifer (Richard) Wilson of Spencerville, Sarah Taylor of Vanlue, Gary Grubbs of Findlay and Ashley D. Sloan of Delphos; seventeen great grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Vaubel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and one nephew, James Vaubel of Hollywood, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Robert M. Sloan; one granddaughter, Angelia Wiechart; and one niece, Cindy Layman.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 1:00-7:00 p.m. at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Her visitation will continue from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the funeral home with pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will take place following the funeral at Spencerville Cemetery. Memories may be shared and viewed by visiting www.baylifffuneral.com. Thomas E.
