Obituary

Spencerville;        Dolores Anne Staples, 91, of Spencerville passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at The Meadows of Delphos in Delphos.

Dolores was born on October 6, 1932 in Buckland, OH to the late Burlette "Bud" and Lydemia (Baker) Stout. She grew up in the Spencerville area and graduated from Spencerville High School in 1950. Shortly after graduating, she was united in marriage to the late Donald L. Staples on October 7, 1950 and together they raised four children. Once the kids were older, she worked as an accounts receivable clerk for the Sohio Chemical Company in Lima for 17 years before her retirement in 1985.

Dolores was very socially active as a member of the Spencerville Chapter 130 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a past Matron and awarded Grand Ruth for the State of Ohio in 1990. She had also been a member of the Red Hat Society and was a past president. Dolores was also active in her faith as a previous member of the Hartford Christian Church and later became a member of the First Baptist Church in Spencerville. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. Being very competitive, she loved any game or situation that could be won. Some of those activities included golf, cornhole, cards and tennis among many others. Amongst many of her talents, she was very particular about making a great pie. Her pies were not only beautiful to look at, but had the taste to follow.
