DON LEPPERT

ELIDA — Don P. Leppert, 89, formerly of rural Elida, died at 3:05 p.m. Feb. 19, 2015, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville, where he had resided the past two years.

He was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Hilliard, to Emerald "Bud" and Hulda Mae (Chambers) Leppert, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 26, 1970, he married Larie I. "Ree" Roush, who died April 2, 2011.

Mr. Leppert was a graduate of Dublin High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He then joined the Army infantry, serving in the 30th Division in the European Theater. He was a carpenter and had owned Reback Construction Co., Dublin. He was a member of Bowersock Bros. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 and its Clown Unit, which he and his wife enjoyed very much. He had also been a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 104, Dublin, where he had been Grand Master in 1946 and 1947.

Survivors include three children, Donna Mae (Ron) Dunham, of Delaware, Steven Leppert and Melinda Sue Chambers, both of Worthington; and his stepdaughter, Susan E. (Bill) Bertrum, of Lima; a half-sister, Mary Alice; two grandchildren, Charles and Edward Willis, of Delaware; three stepgrandchildren, Howard (Deliah) Bowers, of Pataskala, Chuck (Kim) Bowers, of Wapakoneta, and Eric Bowers of Wyoming; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Alex Bowers.

Services will begin at noon Tuesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. The Rev. Andrew J. Atkins will officiate. Burial will be in Dublin Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
