DONALD BURK

CRIDERSVILLE — Donald E. Burk, 83, of Cridersville, died at 12:04 PM Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the Lima Memorial Health System with his family at his side after an extended illness.

He was born January 16, 1933 in Convoy, Ohio, a son of Neal and Myrtle Wallace Burk, who are deceased. On September 26, 1956 he married Ruth C. Clayton, who died January 13, 2013.

He is survived by four children; Melanie (John) Mosier of Wapakoneta; Neal (Karen) Burk, James "Mike" Burk and Allison Burk, all of Cridersville; 5 grandchildren; Joshua and Joel Mosier, Jenny and Chad Schroeder and Noah Cummins; and 7 great grandchildren; Jaylen, Madisyn, Kiara, Conner and Cameron Schroeder, Mariah Mack and Kara Mosier.

Preceding him in death are 9 siblings; Nellie (Harold) Lichtenberger, Stella (Leonard) Imel, Richard (Thelma) Burk, Russell (Minnie) Burk, Lula (Lee Stetler) (Rudolph) Roberts, Henry (Wanda) Burk, Elizabeth (Ervin) Fabian, Carl (Ramona) Burk and Martha (Howard) Hubert.

Donald served in the US Air Force in the Korean War from 1952 thru 1956. He worked in assembly at the Lima Engine Plant of Ford Motor Company for 31 years, retiring in 1999 and was a member of U.A.W. Local 1219. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, helping his children with any house or car projects, gardening, tinkering around the house and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Also he enjoyed tractor and truck pulls and the Demo-Derbys.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with the Rev. Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery with the Spencerville Veterans conducting military rites.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM Tuesday and after 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home in Spencerville.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart or Kidney Assn's in care of the funeral home.
