Obituary

Spencerville;      Douglas Allen Gallaspie Sr., 60, of Spencerville passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

Doug was born on February 16, 1963 in Lima, OH to the late Richard Lee and Barbara Ann (Harruff) Gallaspie. He grew up in Spencerville and attended Spencerville Local Schools until he enlisted in the Army National Guard. Doug was very proud of his 18+ years of service in the guard. He found his passion driving a semi-truck. He worked for different outfits over the years, but most recently worked for Jack Meinberg, hauling for Roeder Cartage Co.

Aside from trucking, his other passion was music. Being on the road so much he found solace in music, mostly soft rock. He traveled all over attending many concerts over the years and was a VIP member of the band Chicago. Doug was known for his sweet tooth and always having candy around, especially Reese's. He loved his motorcycle and his cat, Mister Miss. He grew quite a bond with Mister Miss over the 20 years he had him and was devasted when he passed away.

Doug is survived by his three sons, Douglas Allen Gallaspie Jr. of Lima, Mathew (Jamie) Gallaspie of Wapakoneta, and Marcus (Ashley Fisher) Gallaspie of Kingsville, Missouri; seven grandchildren; four siblings, Clarence "Clem" (Mary) Gallaspie of Kossuth, Richard Gallaspie of Wapakoneta, Anna (Bob) Steinke of Cridersville, and Jim (Jodi) Sanders of Lima. He was preceded in death by his parents.
