Obituary

Spencerville;       Doyt Prichard, 95, of Spencerville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 7, 1928 in Van Wert County to the late Ada and Nellie (Rice) Prichard. Doyt was married to his beautiful wife of 69 years, Jeanette who passed away on November 20, 2022. Doyt was a graduate of Ohio City High School. He was in the US Army from 1946-1952 during the Korean War in Japan and was a member of the US Army basketball team. Doyt Served as the village clerk for Spencerville. He was a member of the VFW Post #6772, American Legion Post #191, Acadia Lodge 0306, Spencerville Chapter 169 and Order of the Eastern Star 130. He was a longtime employee of BP Refinery in Lima and member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Spencerville.

Doyt is survived by four children, Jacquie Prichard of Columbus, Denise Prueter of Spencerville, Becky (Kim) Smalley of Columbus, Randy Prichard of Spencerville; six grandkids, Stacy (Randy) Dickrede , Drew (Emily) Prueter, Abbey Prueter, Megan (Ryan) Anderson, Chelsea (Alex) Compston, and Shae Smalley; ten great grandchildren Michaela, Sophia, Lawson, Chandler, Everly, Charli, Grey, Jackson, Xavier and Cade. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Mable Prichard; beloved wife, Jeanette; siblings, William D. Prichard, Beth Seelig Prichard, Phyllis Aimsworth Prichard, Nell "Jack" Prichard, Paul Prichard, and Robert Roehm.

There will be a visitation from 12:00-3:00 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Spencerville Cemetery, where military rights will be performed by the Army's Honor Guard and Spencerville Veterans. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Doyt and his family. Memorial contributions can be given to Trinity United Methodist Church in Spencerville or the Monticello United Brethren in Christ Church.

Marie Dietrick provided loving care for Doyt and his family. The family wishes many thanks to Grand Lake St. Marys Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
