SPENCERVILLE — Edmond G. "Ed" Gagnon, 81, of Spencerville, passed away peacefully in the Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center Saturday evening February 3, 2018 following a two week illness.
He was born July 14, 1936 in Kenora, Ontario, Canada, a son of the late Edmond J. and Madeline Viviar Gagnon. On December 15, 1979 he married Anita F. Creviston, who survives, along with his children; Diane (Joe) McNeill of London, OH.; Darlene (Howard) Pugh of Lima; Edmond Gagnon of Toledo; Carol (Mark) Kohli and Rhonda Campbell, both of Lima and his step-daughter; Amy Flesher of Salina, KA.; 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a brother; Edward (Diane) Gagnon of Kenora, ON. and a sister; Carol (Alan) Markham of Dryden, ON.
Preceding him in death is his son-in-law; Robert Flesher and siblings; Douglas (Lorna) Strachen; Doris (John) Shellington; Edmond "Freddy" (Sally) Gagnon; Blanche (Max) Foster; Mae (John) Samsal; Bertha Vanance; Edna (Louie) Oulette ; Eleanor (Ed) Piche and an infant sibling.
Ed retired in 1999 from the Lima Engine Plant of Ford Motor Company as an inspector and was a member of the UAW # 1219. He had been a semi-pro Hockey player for the Fort Wayne Komets and also played Hockey in Lima. In addition to his large family, he enjoyed fishing and camping.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM Thursday in the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Spencerville. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 PM Wednesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville.
