EMILY LEHMAN

ELIDA — Emily Joy "Em" Hardesty Lehman, 33, died at 10:25 a.m. Oct. 25, 2014, at the James Cancer Center at Ohio State University in Columbus after a 10-month battle with cancer.

She was born July 9, 1981, in Lima to Dennis J. and Vickie J. Monfort Hardesty, who survive in Byrdstown, Tennessee. On Dec. 29, 2006, she married Ryan E. Lehman, who survives in Elida.

Mrs. Lehman was a 1999 graduate of Spencerville High School and attended the OSU campus in Lima and the Apollo nurse tech program. She worked as a heart tech at Mount Carmel and St. Ann's hospitals in Columbus and also at Lima Memorial Health System. The past three years she had worked for Elida schools as driver of Bus 14. She attended Faith Baptist Church near Elida. In 2002, she made a trip to Bangledesh on a medical mission for six weeks as a volunteer. In high school she sang in all the musical programs and played volleyball and softball and was also a cheerleader. She enjoyed time with her friends, karaoke and flowers and crafts.

Survivors include a stepson, Brandon W. Lehman, of Lima; two siblings, Heather J. (Neal) Young, of Wildomar, California, and Clint J. Hardesty, of Elida; a nephew, Simon Young; a niece, Lillian Young; her father- and mother-in-law, Kevin W. and Norma J. Lehman, of Thomasville, Georgia; a brother-in-law, Kyle W. Lehman, of Pensacola, Florida; her grandparents, Madonna Monfort, of Spencerville, and Melvin and LaVonne Hardesty, of Cridersville.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Donald Monfort.

Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall at Faith Baptist Church in Elida. The Rev. Tom Cooper and the Rev. Charlotte Hefner will officiate.

Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to her husband to be donated to cancer research.

Arrangements are by Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville.
