Ethel Rose Ponting, 88, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday morning, February 14, 2022, where she was residing with her daughter in Powell, Ohio.

She was born August 13, 1933, the daughter of the late Carl Henry and Elma (Spring) Mox. On July 3, 1959, she married John Franklin "Jack" Ponting, who passed March 7, 2009.

Ethel is survived by her daughter, Joni (Jeff) McLaughlin of Powell, her son John E. (LeAnn) Ponting of Canal Winchester, grandchildren Pemberley Ponting, Tristan Trentman, Jennifer McLaughlin and sisters-in-law; Gertrude Mox and Veda Mox, both of Delphos.

Preceding her in death were her brothers, Herman E. Mox, Carl F. Mox and son-in-law Jeff McLaughlin.

She was a 1951 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School and retired in 1994 from her work at the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services.

Ethel was a former member of Delphos Christian Union Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and Pianist. With her love of music, she joined the Spencerville Community Band and the Rag-Time Band at Lima Senior Citizens.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday in the Delphos Christian Union Church at 470 South Franklin Street in Delphos, with Pastor Gary Fish officiating. Following a luncheon, a private family burial will be at the Allentown Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 10 AM until noon Saturday at the church.
