EUGENE KRICK

SPENCERVILLE — Eugene M. "Gene" Krick, 93, of Spencerville, died at 7:19 PM Monday, May 9, 2016 in the Lima Memorial Health System following a short illness.

He was born March 12, 1923 in Ohio City, Van Wert County, a son of Henry W. and Ellen Murray Krick, who are deceased. On December 27, 1944 he married Betty Lou Stonehill who survives at the Roselawn Manor in Spencerville, along with one son; Michael Eugene Krick of Lima, one granddaughter; Stacey Gregory of Spencerville and three great grandchildren; Amber Stapelton, Zachary Gregory and Trey Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law; Peggy Krick and five siblings; Henry (Marcile) Krick, Jr.; Arthur (Omie) Krick; Robert (Mary) Krick; Dora (Lloyd) Simpson and infant Leona Krick.

Gene was a member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ and served in the Army in the Pacific Theater for 31 months during WW II in the 37th Infantry.

He is a life member of the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772, the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191, both of Spencerville and the Eagles Lodge, Aerie 676 and the Handyman Club, both of St. Marys. He retired in 1985 from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St. Marys with 35.5 years service in production and was a member of the United Rubberworkers Union Local #200 and was a member of the Northwest Ohio Field and Stream Assn. of Spencerville.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Jim Menke officiating. Military rites by the Spencerville Veterans will follow the service at the funeral home and burial will follow in Spencerville Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2/4 and 6/8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
