SPENCERVILLE — Evelyn I. Dillon, 91, of Spencerville, passed away peacefully at 11:55 PM Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville, where she had resided the past year.
She was born April 30, 1926 in Connersville, IN., a daughter of Cecil Franklin and Susan Lucille Scholl Hartman, who are deceased. On June 11, 1944 she married Thomas Elmer Dillon, who passed away August 5, 2002.
She is survived by two sons; John Charles "Chuck" (Debra) Dillon of Spencerville and Roger Dale (Terrie) Dillon of Belle Center; her daughter-in-law; Paula Dillon of Findlay; seven grandchildren; Cami (Mark) Tozer of Satellite Beach, FL.; Joe (Jenny) Dillon of Fishers, IN.; Candi (Mike) Boisvert of Pandora; Cari (Russ) Fredrick of Findlay; Matthew Dillon of Spencerville; Molly Dillon of Maria Stein and Joseph (Monica) Thrush of Hilliard; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.; her siblings; LaDonna Weaver of Miamisburg, Joanne (Merlin) Rumbaugh of Lima and Rev. Frank (Bev) Hartman of Lima.
Preceding her in death are her son; David Joseph Dillon; a great grandchild; her sisters; Deloris (Norman) Cook and Maxine (Ed) Doseck and her brother-in-law; Vernon Weaver.
Evelyn was a 1944 graduate of Shawnee High School and had worked as the Librarian for the Spencerville Branch of the Lima Public Library and later for 18 years she traveled Allen County as the Bookmobile Librarian.
She was a long time active member of Trinity United Methodist Church , serving in many ways. She had been a member of the Excellsior Reading Club in Spencerville and the D.A.R. in Lima. She enjoyed to the fullest degree being with her grandchildren; Square dancing, gardening, baking, sewing and "Wintering" in Florida near Lake Wales.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Rev. Josh Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 7 PM Wednesday and after 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
