Spencerville;  Frances Kay "Fran" Whetstone, 73, of rural Spencerville, passed away at 8:59 AM Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in the Lima Memorial Health System, following an extended illness.

She was born October 3, 1948 in Lima, a daughter of Francis and Dorothy Chancey Lyons, who are deceased. On September 14, 1996 she married Steve Whetstone, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Nicholas Rinaldi, Sr.  and David Rinaldi, Sr., six grandchildren, Nicholas, Jr., Joshua, Davie, Justin, Alexis and Brittany, ten great grandchildren, including Isaiah Duran and Konya Stumbaugh, whom they have raised,  her siblings, Ron, Carol, Tom, Kate and Chris and her mother-in-law Rose Schiffer and sister-in-law Susan (Don) Leach.

Fran was preceded in death by two children, Connie Rinaldi and Theresa Rinaldi, grandchild Ryan and siblings, Mike, Cindy and Barbara.

She had attended LCC High School and, being the oldest of her siblings, helped raise them and later her own family and extended family.

Funeral services will be 5 PM Friday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Her wishes were to be cremated following the service with entombment at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 PM Friday at the funeral home.
