Spencerville;          Trudi Emma Sheets, 89, of Spencerville passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at The Meadows in Delphos.

Trudi was born on March 11, 1935 in Berlin, Germany to the late Hans and Else Scherpe. She grew up in Berlin enduring hardships from the war and manage to complete primary school and then acquired a two year business degree. On May 24, 1958, she was united in marriage to Max "Peck" Sheets in Wisbaden, Germany. Peck passed away on October 1, 2022. Gertrude and Peck made their home in Spencerville and she spent 23 years working at Good Year while raising her family.

The most important thing to Trudi was her family. She was very much a home body and loved when her granddaughters and their kids would come over to play games and spend time with her.

Trudi is survived by her two children, Conny (Luann) Sheets of Lima and Randy Sheets of Mendon; three granddaughters, Michelle (Chad) Bardo, Crystal (Boris) Chernov, and Chelsea (Elliott) George all of Lima; eight great grandchildren, Dylan Bardo, Jordan Coleman, Colten Bardo, Cayden Edwards, Aubrey Chernov, Ivan Chernov, Elsea George, and Charlotte George; one brother, Ulrich Scherpe of Frankfurt, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

There will be a graveside service held at Spencerville Cemetery on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Trudi and her family.
