Spencerville; Gregory A. "Greg" Schwark, 72, of Spencerville passed away at 9:25 AM Sunday, May 8, 2022 in his home, with his family at his side following a one and a half year illness.
He was born March 6, 1950 in Lima, a son of the late Clark and Betty M. Cosart Schwark. On June 2, 1984, he married Karen S. Heidlebaugh, who survives, along with their son Cory D. Schwark of Delphos and his siblings, Stephen (Polly) Schwark of Sarasota, FL., Judy (Bill) Holden of Wimauma, FL., Stephanie (Daryl) Flatt of Sugarland, TX. and Amanda (John) St. Clair of Westfield, IN.; his in-laws, Norman (Sondra) Heidlebaugh of Spencerville, Linda (Ed) Yahl of St. Marys and Susan Heidlebaugh of Spencerville and many nieces and nephews. He loved his animals, his dogs Sherman Joey and Sally Sue and his cats, Sunshine, Sylvester and twins, Snickers and Simone.
Greg was preceded in death by his brother Ted Schwark and sister Susan Yant.
Greg was a 1970 graduate of Lima Senior High School and went on to work 38 years in the Lima Post Office as a mail handler. He was a long time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Spencerville, helping with its Audio/Video system over the years. He was an Amature Radio Operator, handle NBWBD, and was a "Storm Spotter" with the program and loved fishing and boating on Lake Erie.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Saturday in the Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Kelly Waltz officiating. It was his desire to be cremated following the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM Friday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and after 2 PM Saturday in the church.
