Obituary

Gregory Lewis Shaffer, 56, passed December 18, 2022 at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville with his big brother Andrew Atkins by his side.

Greg was born July 14, 1966 to the late Glenn L. and Neva (Sherer) Shaffer. Greg grew up on the family farm in Spencerville. Greg worked at Marimor industries for 25+ years where he was known and loved especially for his karaoke version of "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies. In Greg's last few years at Marimor he "retired" to the current event and joke club which he loved. Greg lived at Champaign residential services prior to moving to Roselawn Manor where he enjoyed activities and being spoiled by Barb Wilson and the staff because; "well he's just so cute!" Greg was honest and sincere, he hugged freely, laughed loudly, and loved liberally. Greg was a true treasure and a blessing to all who knew and loved him, and he will be greatly missed.

Greg is survived by his two sisters, Olene (Phil) Stureman of Kimmell, IN and Kay Nelson of Fort Wayne, IN; nephew, Jeremy (Katie) Nelson; niece, Courtney (Matthew) Kephart; 6 grand nieces/nephews; step-nephew, Tony (Pam) Stureman; step-niece, Dawn (Steve) Bandy; 6 step-grand nieces/nephews and first cousin, Diane (Gary) Mosier.

There will be a visitation from 11:00 – 1:00 P.M. followed by his funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Andrew Atkins officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Spencerville Cemetery. In honor of Greg, memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello United Brethren in Christ Church.
