Hugh W. Seibert, 87, of rural Spencerville, passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening November 9, 2022 at Kindred Hospital from complications of Hemochromatosis.

He was born on June 20, 1935 in Salem Township, Auglaize County, the son of the late William and Lucille Wright Seibert.  On June 30, 1956 he married Nancy Jo Hixson who preceded him in death.  He is survived by two sons, Richard (Patty) Seibert, Spencerville, James (Margo Bear) Seibert of Grandview Heights, Ohio, and two daughters, LuAnn (Bruce) Stoner and Farrell (Todd) Merriman, both of St. Marys, eight grandsons, Daniel (Tiffany) Seibert, Michael (Krista) Seibert, Benjamin (Carolyn) Seibert, Ryan (Andrea) Stoner, Scott (Lauren) Stoner, Seth (Caitlyn) Stoner, David (Lauren) Merriman, Marcus (Katie) Merriman, and one granddaughter Katie (Wyatt) Krouskop, and seventeen grandchildren, Lillian, Sophia, Angelina, Harmon, Hollyn, Havilyn, Lane, Lucas, Henry Seibert, Leo, Rey, Blake, Sawyer, Hayes and Baby Stoner, Amelia and Grayson Merriman, his sister-in-law Vicki Seibert, brothers-in-law Sam(Janette) Hixson and Ron Miller.   His brother Jay Seibert and sister Phyllis Fell are deceased.

Hugh graduated from Spencerville High School in 1953.  He was a life long hard-working farmer and started a farm drainage business with his Uncle Harmon Wright at a young age.   He had served on the Auglaize County Soil and Water Board as a supervisor and served on the Ohio United Producers Board for many years.  He enjoyed working with the soil, traveling and being with his family.

He was a member of the Kossuth Zion United Methodist church serving on various committees over the years.  He also was a member of the Spencerville Historical Society.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 14, at the Kossuth Zion United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the New Salem Cemetery in Auglaize County.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13 ^th from 1 – 5 PM at the Thomas Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville.

In lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Spencerville Historical Society, or the Kossuth Zion United Methodist Church.
