Irene O. Grear, 95, of Spencerville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville with her family by her side.

Irene was born on August 2, 1928 in Spencerville to the late Kenneth E. and Edna V. (Graham) Fryer. She graduated from Spencerville high school in 1946. On April 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to the late Dwaine L. Grear in Spencerville. In 1964, Irene had opened Irene's Beauty Shop and she operated her salon for over 35 years.

Irene enjoyed attending her class reunions and crocheting afgahns and giving them away. During her retirement, Irene loved spending the winters in Arkansas and often had a table set up at many flea markets.

She is survived by her daughter, Roxanna Arnold of Mulberry, AR; three grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Arnold of Toledo, Laken Arnold of Spencerville and Tylor Arnold of Lambertville, MI; 8 great grandchildren with one on the way. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dwaine; brother, Richard E. Fryer; sister, Viola E. Broders; daughter, Pamela L. Grear and son-in-law, Gordon Arnold.

There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with her funeral starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with pastor Mark Fuerstenau officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Spencerville Cemetery.  Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Irene and her family. In honor of Irene, memorials may be given to Trinty United Methodist Church in Spencerville.
