Obituary

Jack Edward Snyder, 72, of Spencerville, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

Jack was born on July 23, 1953 in Ashland, to the late Gene P. and Janice (Balder) Snyder. He graduated from Loudonville High School in 1971 and joined the United States Marines in 1973. After his honorable discharge in 1975, he began his lifelong career working for the Carpenters Union #372 and the Lima Refinery for over 30 years. On July 31, 1993, Jack married the love of his life, Deanna "Dea" Cleland.

Jack was a member of the Anchor Church in Celina for 25 years and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #257. He was a very skilled carpenter, enjoyed late model racing, and was an avid reader of historical and political biographies. His greatest joy was becoming a step-father and grandfather to his much loved family. Jack especially loved his dogs, Marley and Molly.

Jack is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deanna Snyder; children, Mike (Karla) Schwartz and Joel (Andrea) Schwartz both of Spencerville; six grandchildren, Brandon, Alex, Cara, Peyton, Connor, and Ethan; sister, Susie (Marvin) Sprang of Loudonville; niece, Heather (Jason) Byerly; nephew, Kevin (Stephanie) Sprang of Columbus; great nieces, Katelyn Eileen Byerly and Leah Muriel Byerly; great nephew, Lachlan Fredrick Sprang. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Bobbie Jo (Schwartz) O'Dell.

There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 at The Anchor Church, 231 Grand Lake Rd. Dr., in Celina. Visitation will continue from 9:00-10:30 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the church with pastor Simon Young officiating. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Jack and his family. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be given to the American Legion Post #257 in Loudonville.
