James Sherer, 66, of Spencerville, passed away on Sunday morning, January 1, 2023 in his daughters home surrounded by family and friends.

James Odes Sherer was born on January 5, 1956 in Lima, OH to the late Wilbur Lee and MaryLou (Wilder) Sherer. He grew up in the Lima area graduating from Bath High School in 1974. After school he began his long time career as a long haul truck driver and for the last 20 years he was a union painter/sandblaster at Lima Painting and Sandblasting.

Jim was a very outgoing person who had never met a stranger. A very kind soul that would give anyone the shirt off his back. He loved spending countless hours with his friends and family, and their friends who became his extended family.

He is survived by his three children, Geddy L. (Natasha) Sherer, Dylan J. Sherer, and Courtney (Mike Glossett) Sherer; five grandchildren, Audrey L. Sherer, Tyler J. Sherer, Owen Z. Sherer, Kendrick J. Glossett, and Rhiannon M Glossett; three siblings, Sharon (Rusty) Weaver, Sandi (Mark) Shoemaker, and Anita (Dan) Loescher; his ex-wife and forever friend, Susan Sherer and her mother Garna Richeson; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Connie Rae Sherer.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. A special thank you is extended to a dear family friend, Randy Mullins, for always being there.
