Obituary

Janett L. Strayer Youngpeter, 85, of rural Spencerville, passed away peacefully at her home Friday morning, 11:46 AM, May 14, 2021 with her loving family at her side.

She was born November 1, 1935 in Amanda Twp., Allen County, daughter of the late George W. and Germaine E. Suever Strayer.  On September 17, 1955 she married Eugene N. "Gene" Youngpeter, who passed away March 1, 2020.

Surviving are their 5 children; Mark (LuAnn) Youngpeter, Robert Youngpeter, Greg (Tina) Youngpeter, Michael (Laura) Youngpeter and Michelle (Tod) Howard, all of Spencerville, grandchildren; Janelle Schroeder, Brandon (Ashley) Youngpeter, Rachel (Bil) Lackland, Jeffery Youngpeter, Danielle Weigel, Aaron (Ashley) Lee, Andrea (Seth) Monfort, Matthew Youngpeter and Mitchell Youngpeter; Great grandchildren, Nolan and Ellie Schroeder, Betsy Youngpeter and Tucker Monfort, her siblings twin Jean Miller, Shirley Strayer and Joyce (Ronald) Brenneman.

Preceding her in death are her daughter-in-law; Betsy Youngpeter, siblings Mary (Bill) Baxter, Paul (Sondra) Strayer and brother-in-law Dave Miller.

Janett was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Spencerville and was a 1953 graduate of Spencerville High School and had worked as a cashier at the former Top Hat Market in Spencerville and the telephone company in Lima. She loved to play Bingo and Rummy.  While her husband was serving his 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, she and her family greatly enjoyed touring Europe watching military sports, with her husband being the Fast Pitch Softball pitcher.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Josh Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford Cemetery, N.E. of Spencerville.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 AM until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spencerville Swimming Pool Fund.
