JAY METZGER

SPENCERVILLE — Jay L. Metzger, 40, died at 1:15 a.m. June 11, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, with his family by his side.

He was born Feb. 7, 1975, in Lima, to Gary L. and Margo A. Lichty Metzger, who survive.

Mr. Metzger was a 1993 graduate of Spencerville High School where he played football and baseball. He attended Bowling Green State University. He earned his journeyman electrician license through the IBEW Local 32 in 2002 and had been employed through many of the local union electrical companies. He enjoyed many years of playing softball with his friends. He especially enjoyed OSU football and recently had enjoyed the game of disc golf. Jay had a fun-loving spirit and kind heart. He had been ill for the last year.

Survivors also include a sister, Melina A. Metzger, of Columbus; and his grandmother, LaDonna E. Metzger, of Spencerville.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jay R. and Ruth E. Lichty and Lewis H. Metzger.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. The Rev. David W. Howell will officiate. Burial will be in Spencerville Cemetery.

Friends may calll one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spencerville Athletic Boosters.
