JEAN SAWMILLER

SPENCERVILLE — Jean A. Sawmiller, 89, of rural Spencerville, died at 5:50 PM Thursday, November 3, 2016 in the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville, where she had resided since February 23, 2016 with her family near by.

She was born May 6, 1927 in Bakersfield, CA., the daughter of Lyle J. and Fern E. Cooper Kolter, who are deceased. On July 14, 1947 she married Paul E. Sawmiller, who died August 10, 2013.

Surviving are 5 children; Paula (Mike) Bice of Spencerville; Norris (Jean) Sawmiller of Mendon; Claudine Hawk, Roxanne (Roy) Lauth and Michael (Laura) Sawmiller, all of Spencerville; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Jean was a 1945 graduate of Spencerville High School and a 1948 graduate of St. Rita's Nursing School where she earned her R. N. degree. She retired after 25 years service in 1982 at the Joint Twp. District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

She attended the Monticello United Brethren in Christ Church. She enjoyed gardening on the family farm and walking.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery, South of Monticello.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 PM Monday and after 9:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
