JENNIE AXE
SPENCERVILLE — Jennie C. Axe, 96, of Spencerville, died at 3:15 AM Friday, September 23, 2016 in the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville, where she had been a resident for several years.
She was born May 14, 1920 in Jennings Twp, Van Wert County to Frederick and Emma Adeline McKinley Lauth, who are deceased. She was next to the youngest of 18 children in their family. On July 30, 1960 she married Vincent Edward who died January 4, 2001.
She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and its Alter Rosary Society and had retired after 36 years at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St. Marys. She was a Life Member of both the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 and the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772 Auxiliaries and the Northwestern Ohio Field and Stream Assn., all of Spencerville and the Goodyear Retirees. She loved to go to the Allen and Van Wert County Fairs and was able to attend the 2016 Allen County Fair with her Roselawn friends. She also enjoyed Bingo and Gambling Casino trips.
Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Burnett of rural Spencerville and her sister-in-law; Winnie Axe of Kansas City, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are 9 brothers, Walter, Roy, Raymond, Floyd, Maurice, Carl, Richard, Howard and infant James and 7 sisters: Clara Meihls, Irene Gase, Inez Kill. Ruth Detrick, infant Edna, Mabel Reynolds and Myrtle Jones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Saturday, October 1, 2016 in the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Spencerville. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 until 8 PM Friday and 9:30 until 10:30 AM Saturday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, where the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries will conduct memorial services at 4:30 PM Friday.
