Jerilynn “Jerrie” L. Bonifas, 84, of Botkins, formerly of Landeck, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.

She was born on February 20, 1942 in Van Wert County to the late Leo and Margie L. (Lawyer) Bonifas. Jerrie was a graduate of Spencerville High School and went on to attend Northwestern College and Ohio State School of Cosmetology. She worked in data processing at Lima Telephone, BLH, and General Dynamics.

Jerrie enjoyed many years racing Standardbred Horses. She was secretary of the Allen County Harness Horsemen and Van Wert County Harness Horsemen for many years. She also loved fishing and bowling. Different groups Jerrie was a member of include the USTA, OHHA, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Lima Post #370.

Jerrie was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Richard L. Bonifas.

There will be a visitation from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with her Mass of Christian Burial starting at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck. Burial will take place following the service at the church cemetery in Landeck. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Jerrie and her family.
