John W. Burnett Jr., 57, of Dayton passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Miami Vally Hospital in Dayton.

John was born on November 22, 1967 in Dayton to the late John Wella Sr. and Mary (Van Pelt) Burnett. He grew up around Kettering attending Fairmount High School before enlisting in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he moved to Spencerville and lived with his dad and brother for a number of years before moving back to Dayton.

John loved his cats and the neighborhood squirrels; he even trained the squirrels to come eat out of his hand. He enjoyed hiking, being outdoors, and watching the planes come in at Wright Patt Airforce Museum.

John is survived by his brother Clayton Burnett of Spencerville; two nieces, Holly Reiger of Spencerville and Katurah Shane of Lake Orion, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Julie Stacy.

Services will be held at a later date. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for John and his family.
