John Jones, 68, of Spencerville passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 at St. Rita's Medical Center after suffering a traumatic injury.

He was born on August 20, 1954 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Dorsey and Jennie Mae (Alford) Jones. He grew up and attended Harlan High School. He married Sandra (Bailey) Weaver on April 22, 1978 in Lima. After his marriage, he decided to get his GED at the Tucker Vocational Center in Marion. After acquiring his GED, he spent many years as a crane operator working for Omni Source in Wabash.

John had a great passion for hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with his family and his dogs Harlan & Tobey. Most of all John was very proud of his love and faith in Jesus Christ.

John is survived by his wife, Sandra; five step-children, Jim (Cindi) Weaver of Cincinnati, OH, Dennis (Tracy) Weaver of Iowa, Bill (Beth) Weaver of Kentucky, Cara (Troy) Franks of Indiana, and Laura (Matt) Preston of Wisconsin; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Linda (Steve) Underwood, Mary (Phil) Bruce, Sandy (Green Bailey) Irvin, Dorothy Jones; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, Tom, Jack, Shirley, Minnie, Henrietta and Nancy.

There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. His funeral service will take place on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with an hour of visitation before the service also at the funeral home with Pastor Charles H. Johnson officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Spencerville Cemetery.
