JOHN OEHLHOF

SPENCERVILLE — John F. Oehlhof, 94, formerly of Spencerville, died at 8:10 AM Friday, March 18, 2016 in the Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta, where he had resided since February 4, 2005.

He was born March 25, 1921 in Spencerville, a son of William "Bill" and Nondis Shively Oehlhof, who are deceased. On September 14, 1946 he married Rita Mary Reed, who died August 18, 2012.

Surviving are four children; Pamela J. (Jerry) Knoch of Wapakoneta; Paul E. Oehlhof of Spencerville;James A. (Barbara) Oehlhof of Wapakoneta and Thomas W. Oehlhof of Columbus; seven grandchildren; Carrie Knoch of Wapakoneta; Chris (Cameron) Ford and Sara Oehlhof, both of Spencerville; Rick (Christi) Oehlhof of Leesburg, VA.; Joe (Kristen) Oehlhof of Oak Hill, CA.;Marty (Kayla) Oehlhof of Columbus and Kevin Oehlhof of Cincinnati and several great grandchildren; a sister; Martha Carnes of Xenia and two brothers; Dick (Joyce) Oehlhof of Wisconsin and Ben Oehlhof of Spencerville.

John was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Staci Oehlhof, a sister; Mary Lou Bible and a brother; Clair (Carol) Oehlhof.

He was a 1947 graduate of Spencerville High School and served in WWII as a Medical X-Ray Tech at Camp Perry. He retired after 33 years service in 1982 as a store room clerk and group leader at the Teledyne-Ohio Steel Foundry in Lima.

He was a member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ and a life member of the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 in Spencerville.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Spencerville Veterans.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM Wednesday and after 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Auglaize Acres Activity Fund.
